University Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics

A spacious clinker brick building erected in the 30's is the home of the newly designed University Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. With its old and stately avenue of trees in the adjacent patients' garden, this Hospital is one of the scenic jewels of the "Tal" Hospital premises.

The Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics deals with the prophylaxis, diagnosis and treatment of disease and disorders of the female reproductive organs and the appurtenant innovative surgical techniques.

Prevention, consultation, research for women: The State of Baden-Württemberg's Institute for Women's Health is located in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics.

The Hospital opened the first certificated Breast Centre for breast cancer patients in Germany and enjoys a first-class reputation in the field of cancer diagnostics and treatment, as well as for oncosurgery, which also includes surgery for ovarian carcinoma, and uterine and cervical carcinoma.

Maternity care and obstetrics (high-risk obstetrics) are important responsibilities of this Hospital. Care and consultation for everything to do with giving birth gives parents security, as does the directly affiliated specialist department of medicine for premature babies (Perinatal Centre).
