Arbeitsgruppe Agnandji

Selidji Todagbe Agnandji is director and leader of the biomedicine and social sciences group of the Centre de Recherches Médicales de Lambaréné (CERMEL), Gabon and has successfully supervised a series of clinical trials over years towards the control /elimination of infectious diseases including malaria and ebola. He has successfully worked on the newly licensed RTS, S malaria-vaccine (Mosquirix) in Gabon and is currently evaluating the efficacy of a malaria vaccine based on life attenuated malaria sporozoites from SANARIA in Gabonese children.

The biomedicine and social sciences group has an interest in improving health and wellness in sub-Saharan Africa. The biomedicine activities include evaluation of the impact of immune pre-activation to drug or vaccine efficacy/failure, development/evaluation of host based diagnostic and treatment, vaccine research and participation on the demographic and health surveillance system (DHSS). The social sciences activities are centred on the sub-Sahara African population and focus on: evaluation and territorialisation of the biomedical research, elaboration of mixed metrics to assess the impact of biomedical research on social development and evaluation of the impact of scientific activities on economic development.
