iFIT Symposium Women in Science 2023

Women have been doing great things in science for decades, but they still land in top positions far too rarely or are unable to earn merit to the same extent as men. A look at the statistics of the Nobel Prizes proves it. Only 6.4 percent of all awards given since 1901 have gone to women. But why is this so? How can women give their scientific careers a boost to gain more recognition? And what role models exist and how can young female researchers learn from them?
The iFIT Symposium Women in Science wants to give female reseachers from the University and the University Hospital possible answers to these questions. The symposium is part of the iFIT Equal Opportunities Program and is specially designed for women working in the scientific field.
The event will provide a unique opportunity to learn and hear about:
- The experience of remarkable women who excel in their careers;
- Strategies for women to succeed in a field where mostly men succeed;
- Strategies for women to create/improve networking;
- Early career opportunities specifically designed for female researchers;
- Implemented programs/guidelines to promote equal opportunities;
- Programs designed to provide balance between work and family.
Following the lectures there will be a Round Table Session where you can sit with each speaker and discuss any further questions regarding the subject. In the Market of Possibilities you can find informative material about the programs approached, funding and much more.
Furthermore, iFIT will provide childcare support onsite. To register contact the iFIT Office ifitoffice@med.uni-tuebingen.de. Registration for childcare possible until September 11th, 2023
We are looking forward to inspirational talks by our invited speakers presenting their career path and giving information about supporting programs, pitfalls and options to combine career and family as a woman. All female scientists from the University Hospital and Medical Faculty are more then welcome to join!
