Dr. Christoph Trautwein, “Phenotyping and patient stratification of solid cancers with metabolomics”

we are pleased to announce a lecture by
Dr. Christoph Trautwein, University of Tübingen, Germany
Dr. Christoph Trautwein is group leader (PI) for Metabolomics & Systems Medicine and head of the newly established Core Facility Metabolomics of the Medical Faculty at the M3 Research Center, Tübingen, Germany.
Dr. Trautwein studied first Environmental Engineering at Stuttgart University and moved 2006 for his diploma thesis to Freiburg, Southern Germany. During his PhD, he investigated the bacterial transformation of pharmaceuticals in the aquatic environment and graduated in 2012. After additional studies in Molecular Medicine where he first got in touch with metabolomics, he located 2015 for a postdoctoral fellowship to the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. In 2017, he joined the Werner Siemens Imaging Center at the University Hospital Tübingen where he build-up the research field of preclinical and clinical metabolomics, leading since 2019 his own research group.
Dr. Trautwein’s research is based on the application of advanced metabolomics techniques (micro NMR, IVDr NMR, timsTOF-MS, MALDI-2 Imaging) to preclinical and clinical research with focus on absolute quantitation and systems biology approaches in the realms of cancer, neurodegeneration and metabolic disorders.
The talk title will be: “Phenotyping and patient stratification of solid cancers with metabolomics”
“For the past five years, my research group has been exploring the potential of quantitative metabolomics for precision health and personalized medicine. Learning more about specific concentrations of individual metabolites within solid cancers will help to develop novel diagnostic and therapeutic targets. Hereby, we apply tissue and biofluid metabolomics and dive deeply into the large cosmos of the metabolic dark matter.”
