iFIT Seminar Series with Dr. Stefan Glöggler
Stable isotope magnetic resonance contrast agents - A tale of three nuclei

On behalf of the iFIT spokespersons Lars Zender, Juliane Walz and Bernd Pichler, it is our pleasure to inform you about and invite you to the next iFIT Seminar Series Session 2024 that will take place
on Monday, June 24th at 12:00 pm (CEST)
at Big Lecture Hall in the ENT Clinic (HNO Klinik, Elfriede-Aulhorn-Straße 5, 72076 Tübingen).
Our guest speaker, Dr. Stefan Glöggler (Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences, Göttingen) will give a talk on
“Stable isotope magnetic resonance contrast agents - A tale of three nuclei”.
Magnetic resonance imaging is a versatile technology to diagnose diseases. In order to enhance image quality to study and diagnose diseases even better, contrast agents are used. Dr. Glöggler's group focuses on the development of next generation contrast agents by exploring nuclear spin phenomena and leveraging them as new contrast mechanisms. In recent years, his group has designed deuterated nanoparticles that can e.g. be used for imaging lymphatics and has developed rapid signal-enhanced/hyperpolarized contrast agents to image cancer. Hyperpolarization is a phenomenon that boosts signals by over 100 000-fold compared to the normal signal in a clinical scanner. Dr. Glöggler will present developments on a rapid approach that enhances signals of body-own metabolites within a minute and show the first proof of concept that these tracers can be used for cancer imaging. He will also present ongoing research to develop tracers to probe reactive oxygen species, another hallmark of cancer.
As a special feature of this program, iFIT will sponsor free lunch packages! (First come, first serve)
All members of the University Hospital and University of Tübingen are invited to participate!
We look forward to this Seminar Series session and to see you there!
