iFIT Seminar Series with Dr. Steven Johnsen
Master transcription factors control pancreatic cancer subtype identity by distinct transcriptional mechanisms

On behalf of the iFIT spokespersons Lars Zender, Juliane Walz and Bernd Pichler, it is our pleasure to inform you about and invite you to the next iFIT Seminar Series 2024 that will take place
on Monday, March 11th at 12:15 pm (CET)
at Crona Clinic, Big Lecture Hall (Crona Kliniken, Hoppe-Seyler-Straße 3, 72076 Tübingen).
Our speaker, Dr. Steven Johnsen (Robert Bosch Center for Tumor Diseases, Stuttgart) will give a talk on
"Master transcription factors control pancreatic cancer subtype identity by distinct transcriptional mechanisms "
Dr. Steven Johnsen studied molecular biology & biochemistry (B.Sc.) at the University of Idaho before completing his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at the Mayo Clinic. He did post-doctoral work in Hamburg and at the EMBL in Heidelberg, before assuming his first independent position as Assistant (W1) Professor at the University of Göttingen in 2007. Thereafter he was an Associate (W2) Professor at the UKE in Hamburg (2012-2014), Full (W3) Professor for Translational Cancer Research in Göttingen (2014-2019) before assuming a position as Full Professor for Medicine & Pharmacology at the Mayo Clinic (2019-2022). In 2022 he was recruited to be the inaugural Scientific Director of the newly founded Robert Bosch Center for Tumor Diseases in Stuttgart. Dr. Johnsen’s research is focused on epigenetic and transcriptional regulation of cellular identity and chemotherapeutic responsiveness in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. His team utilizes state of the art next generation sequencing methodologies and bioinformatic approaches to identify molecular mechanisms, which can be targeted for improved patient survival.
As a special feature of this program, the iFIT will sponsor free lunch packages! (First come, first serve)
All members of the University Hospital and University of Tübingen are invited to participate!
We look forward to this iFIT Seminar Series session and to see you there!
