The Fortüne Program - is intended to support basic and disease-oriented research projects (e.g. model systems for diseases) from all subject areas of biomedical research within the Faculty of Medicine and to facilitate the acquisition of external third-party funding for scientists in the sense of start-up funding. An applicant can only submit a maximum of two applications to the Fortüne program during his/her scientific career, of which only one in each module (Junior, PATE, Innovation application).

(Funding of qualitatively outstanding, competitive projects with the aim to enable the acquisition of external third-party funds. The normal application will be renamed "innovation application" in order to make clear the start-up character and the necessary development of new research directions as a justification for submitting an application in the fortüne program.

The AKF program(Applied Clinical Research) aims to increase the number of science-driven studies in terms of Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs) in key research areas of the faculty. There are two funding vehicles under the AKF program.

Pilot studies

By supporting pilot studies (phase I-II studies), externally funded follow-up studies (phase II-III) are to be made possible.

Start-up funding

Applications to external funding institutions (BMBF, EU, DFG, Dts. Krebshilfe or similar) can be supported in the sense of start-up funding.

Applicants submitting their own DFG proposal for the first time (DFG Individual Projects/Subject Grants ).

Bonus:

100.00 € per month per full approved 100,000 € proposal volume (project funds without overhead over the entire term; maximum term 3 years).

Large-scale collaborations (outline phase)

DFG-funded collaborative projects are an important strategic factor in the faculty's research concept. Start-up funding for these collaborative projects (SFB, FO, KFO, etc.) will be funded if they follow the flow chart.

The disbursement of the grant amount (60,000 euros for research groups and 100,000 euros for SFBs or collaborations with a similar financial volume) takes place in two parts:

• Part 1 will be paid out after the presentation of their proposal concept to the Research Commission.
• Part 2 will be paid out after the call for a full proposal (proof of the external third-party funding institution).

Large-scale collaborations (preparation of the conception phase)

DFG collaborative projects (SFB, FOR, GRK) can be supported in the run-up to the conception phase. The funding measure includes the support of the networking of working groups, the financing of preliminary research work that is still necessary for the creation of a consortium as well as the preparation of joint publications etc..

Eligible are designated spokespersons of planned collaborative proposals, usually appointed professors. At least two different institutions must be involved in the collaborative project. The application process is based on the DFG guidelines for SFBs, GRKs and FORs.

Funding is provided for concepts for collaborative proposals (with the corresponding number of subprojects) with financing of personnel and material resources for a maximum of 2 years until a full proposal is submitted to the DFG.

- Max sum for a FOR initiative: 250 T€

- Max sum for a GRK initiative: 250 T€
