Special consultation for bipolar disorders

The special consultation for bipolar disorders at the University Hospital for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Tübingen offers comprehensive, detailed diagnostics including detailed current and biographical anamnesis. The diagnosis, which can also be supplemented if necessary by procedures such as blood sampling, brain wave measurement (EEG) or cardiac waveform (ECG), enables a clear classification of your symptoms. Based on the results, you will receive an individual treatment recommendation that includes suitable psychotherapeutic and/or drug treatment options. Last but not least, this includes psychoeducational elements, which are intended to provide you with comprehensive knowledge about causes, trigger situations, symptoms and treatment strategies. In addition, we are also happy to make therapy suggestions for further treatment by a colleague you trust.

Medicinal treatment
In the course of the medical consultations, you will receive advice on drug therapy in accordance with the latest treatment standards.

When is a bipolar disorder in need of treatment?

  • You suffer from extreme mood swings that seem to occur completely independently of events in your life.
  • You feel down, sad and depressed at times for at least two weeks and lose interest in things you usually enjoy. You may also have low energy, difficulty sleeping, loss of appetite or difficulty concentrating.

To whom is the offer of the special outpatient clinic for bipolar disorders directed?

  • The mood swings clearly affect you in your everyday life, work or interpersonal relationships.
  • People who have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and would like a second opinion regarding the diagnosis or treatment.
  • People who have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and are interested in our research.
  • People who have severe mood swings and would like diagnostic clarification and counseling.
