Inpatient equivalent treatment for psychosis patients (Psychose-StäB)

The University Hospital for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy Tübingen offers inpatient equivalent treatment for people with psychosis disorders (Psychose-StäB).

In the inpatient equivalent treatment (StäB), patients are treated by a mobile treatment team at home. The therapy is equivalent to inpatient treatment in terms of content, intensity and complexity.

Information flyer (PDF)

StäB addresses all people living in the district of Tübingen who suffer from psychotic symptoms and for whom inpatient hospital treatment is recommended if this is not possible, sensible or desired for various reasons. This may be the case if children or relatives have to be cared for or because of negative previous experiences or fears regarding hospital treatment.

Our Psychose-StäB team currently includes a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy, a psychological psychotherapist, an assistant physician, (specialist) nurses, an occupational therapist, a physiotherapist and a social pedagogue. Personal contact with a team member takes place at least once a day. In addition, we can be reached by telephone at any time.

What is the advantage of StäB?

Treatment in the familiar living environment offers more opportunities to recognize and use existing strengths and resources. Often, illness-related symptoms and limitations that have a negative impact on social contacts and coping with everyday life can be noticed more quickly and treated more successfully. There is also the possibility of involving relatives and important caregivers in the therapy.

Who is admitted?

Adults residing in the district of Tübingen who have an indication for inpatient treatment and psychotic symptoms.

Registration should be made through established psychiatrists, psychotherapists or family doctors.

Exclusion criteria for treatment

In case of acute danger to others and/or suicidal tendencies or uncontrolled consumption of addictive substances, treatment is unfortunately not possible.
