iFIT Workshop: Fundamentals of Scientific Writing

✍️On October 1–2, 2026, iFIT - Cluster of Excellence PhD students came together for our “Fundamentals of Scientific Writing” workshop with Dr. Birgit Hollenbach at the iFIT Seminar Room in Tübingen.
🧬Over two interactive days, participants explored how scientific findings can be communicated clearly, concisely and effectively. The workshop covered key aspects of scientific writing, including structuring scientific texts, improving clarity and conciseness, analyzing abstracts and developing effective introductions and discussions.
📰 Using examples from scientific publications, participants worked with established approaches such as the IMRaD structure and the TEEL paragraph framework. Through hands-on exercises and group work, they had plenty of opportunities to discuss different approaches, exchange ideas and put their new knowledge directly into practice.
💡Now it is time to consolidate and apply the skills gained during the workshop in their own scientific writing. The next opportunity to take these skills a step further is already on the horizon: on November 12–13, 2026, Dr. Birgit Hollenbach will return to iFIT for the “Advanced Scientific Writing” workshop, where participants will further develop their scientific writing skills and explore more advanced strategies.
