- Contact your supervisior to discuss and sign a doctoral candidate supervisor agreement
- Contact Tanja Rieß and Melissa Zanetti Franchi Christofoletti (for Dr med or Dr.sc.hum) or Sandra Schmid and Melissa Zanetti Franchi Christofoletti (for PhD)
- Contact Welcome Center

As of February 01, 2022, the new doctoral regulations for the Dr. med. and Dr. med. dent. procedures will come into force.
Procedure for registration as a doctoral candidate
- Search for doctoral topic and supervisor (see more: https://www.medizin.uni-tuebingen.de/de/medizinische-fakultaet/promotionen/promotionsbrse)
- Attendance of the event "Good Scientific Practice (GWP) for Doctoral Candidates
- E-mail to the PhD office with scan of the certificate of attendance GWP for PhD seekers with the request to send the access code to the online application portal (promotionen@med.uni-tuebingen.de)
- Preparation / completion of the application documents in Word, together with habilitated supervisor
- Transfer of the contents into the online portal
- Submission of the signed application and further documents (supervision agreement, copy of certificates, CV, if applicable ethics vote or animal experimentation permit) to the doctoral office
- Review by scientific supervisor
- In case of a positive opinion: acceptance as doctoral candidate for three years

Dr.sc.hum.
The doctoral procedure for the degree of Dr. sc. hum is intended for graduates of non-medical courses of study (e.g. biotechnology, molecular medicine, medical technology, certain engineering and natural sciences, psychology, in individual cases also subjects such as social sciences, law and economics, etc.) who would like to do their doctorate at the Faculty of Medicine within the framework of an interdisciplinary project.

PhD in Experimental Medicine
The target group of the PhD program Experimental Medicine are graduates of medical programs and natural sciences who are interested in an intensive scientific education and would like to prepare for a job in the field of medical research and basic research. Particularly talented medical students can start the PhD program already after passing M1.

Please note that all doctoral supervisors must regularly (i.e. every three years) attend a faculty event on this topic. Participation in the event “Good Scientific Practice for Supervisors” or “Good Scientific Practice for MFT University Professors” is possible.
