Good scientific practice and ombuds office

Faculty measures to ensure good scientific practice and to deal with misconduct

The Faculty of Medicine Tübingen takes all reports of academic misconduct very seriously and investigates them carefully. Four academics elected by the University Senate are available as ombudspersons. For the area of clinical sciences, these are Professor Reinhild Klein and Professor Anil Batra; for the area of basic sciences, Professor Marius Ueffing and Professor Sandra Beer-Hammer. In addition, the Faculty's Ombuds Office offers low-threshold counseling options. Dr. Inka Montero and Ms. Heidrun Jakob will advise you here.

The following applies to all information and procedures: All consultations are confidential. The principle of the presumption of innocence always applies. No information is provided on ongoing proceedings.

The Faculty offers events and courses for all target groups of the Faculty to teach good scientific practice and prevention.

The Faculty Commission for Academic Ethics and Compliance also deals with fundamental questions on the subject and advises the Faculty Executive Board

The advice is based on the rules of good scientific practice (GWP) and offers solution-oriented conflict moderation. The ethics committee will advise you on questions relating to clinical trials.

Typical topics addressed by the ombudspersons are supervision conflicts, authorship issues, publication-related GSP issues.

The ombudspersons regularly hold seminars and lectures on GSP, including aspects of scientific misconduct. These events are mandatory for all doctoral candidates, postdocs and supervisors.
