Advance payment of treatment

Patients from abroad are required to deposit the payment for the estimated costs of their treatment into the University Hospital's account prior to their treatment, unless either a domestic health insurance scheme or a domestic third party has agreed to cover these costs.

In order to enable us to determine the estimated costs, it is essential that the University Hospital is given in advance as much detailed information as possible about your illness and the treatment desired. You will be informed of the pre-calculated estimated total cost of your treatment prior to admittance. This amount must be transferred to the University Hospital's bank account prior to admittance.

Should your treatment be more complex than expected (i.e., as a result of complications arising during the course of your treatment, or additional ailments which were previously unknown), the University Hospital Tübingen will issue a further demand for the payment of these additional costs. 

After your final invoice has been calculated, any excess sums which may have been paid will be transferred back to you.
