The Interfaculty Institute of Microbiology and Infection Medicine Tübingen (IMIT) conducts research on disease processes in infections, new approaches to infection prevention and infection therapy and new diagnostic methods, funded by the DFG (SFB 766, SFB 685, TR SFB 34, GRK 1708), the EU and the German Center for Infection Research (BMBF). The Institute was founded in 2009 through the merger of the Institute of Microbiology (Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) and the Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hygiene (Faculty of Medicine). The IMIT is the first institute of its kind in Germany.
