About us

The Core Facility MRI provides research groups with access to two high-performance MRI scanners. The Siemens Magnetom Prisma systems are equipped with MR-compatible devices for stimulation and physiological monitoring.

If needed, trained staff can operate the scanners while users conduct experiments involving stimulation, physiological monitoring, and other applications.

A key focus is ensuring that users are qualified to perform safe and high-quality MRI imaging. This includes mandatory safety training as well as, when necessary, instruction in the independent operation of the equipment.

Support is also available for study planning and imaging procedures—whether through optimizing imaging parameters, installing new sequences, or, if required, developing acquisition and analysis software.

All acquired MRI data is made available to users on dedicated servers. If assistance with data analysis is needed, expert guidance can be provided.

FAQ

If you've never run an MRI study with us please get in touch with us via E-Mail.

Registered users get access to our scan time calendar in PPMS. In this calendar, you can book your scan time as required.

For all experiments involving humans or animals, you need to provide an ethics approval for your specific study. In addition, every person involved in the experiments needs to have undergo an annual, mandatory safety training.

We provide MRI safety trainings in German and English language. Please contact us if you want to know the date of the next training.

We have experienced staff members who can plan and run the MRI part of your study for you. You still need to attend the experiments and, depending on the requirements of your study, record additional data, present your stimulus, or help with subject handling / management.

You will have to do a superuser-exam in which you show that you know how to safely work on an MRI system and record high-quality data. We do offer opportunities to learn how to do that and encourage independent use of the scanners.

Our MRI scanners are available to registered users 24/7. If you need a staff member for your experiment, please get in touch with us to schedule the required appointments. In general, we're available Mo-Fr during daytime.
