Imaging viral infections

We have the unique possibility for superresolution live cell imaging in our BSL-3 lab. We use the General Electric Delta Vision OMX SR microscope. With this cutting-edge technology we can resolve structures with a size down to 100 nm or even less under certain conditions. Therefore, we have the precious opportunity to image single virions and their subcellular movement.

Some technical details:
  • Live cell imaging 3D structured illumination microscopy (3D-SIM)
  • Total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy
  • TIRF and 3D-SIM in combination with fluorescence recovery after photobleaching
  • Ultra-high speed fluorescence live cell imaging with deconvolution
  • Hardware-based autofocus system
  • 2 sCMOS cameras
  •  4 lasers (405, 488, 568, 640)
