Gerald Reischl appointed Associate Professor
Great news for Gerald Reischl from our research area “Molecular and Functional Multiparametric Imaging”. On September 3rd he was appointed as Associate Professor (Außerplanmäßiger Professor). Reischl studied Chemistry at the University of Tuebingen and gained his PhD in Organic Chemistry back in 1994. Following his Postdoctoral until 1998 at the Radiopharmacy PET Center at the University of Tuebingen he continued as a Research Fellow at this institute, with a permanent position since 2006. In 2005 Reischl was at the MacCallum Cancer Center, Melbourne, Australia for a research sabbatical.
After four years as the Deputy Head of Radiopharmacy, he was appointed as Head of the Radiopharmacy, Department of Radiology, of the University of Tuebingen in 2008. During that time Reischl was in charge for manufacturing licenses for numerous radiopharmaceuticals for clinical trials and clinical application. In 2011, the Radiopharmacy was integrated into the newly created "Department of Preclinical Imaging and Radiopharmacy". From 2009 to 2016, Reischl had a leading role in the design, planning and construction process of the GMP Facility of the Radiopharmacy, which was inaugurated in 2016.
As part of our iFIT Cluster of Excellence Reischl’s scientific focus covers the development of methods for isotope production and synthesis of PET radiopharmaceuticals as well as PET biomarker development, their preclinical evaluation and translation into clinical application. Since 2019, he has been member of the Steering Committee of our Cluster. As an associate professor Reischl can rely on years of teaching experience. Since 2000, he has led numerous lectures and courses in the Medical Faculty and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, mostly Curricular. Since 2010, he has held courses for external Radiochemists and -pharmacists for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). http://www.isct.uni-tuebingen.de/wsic/group/staff/staff-member/gerald-reischl/
