IDM- Diabetes Lecture with guest speaker Gerald Shulman from Yale University

The event was initiated and hosted by the Institute for Diabetes Research and Metabolic Diseases (IDM) of Helmholtz Munich at the University of Tübingen, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Andreas Birkenfeld.

In 2026, the IDM celebrated its 15th anniversary. To mark this milestone and following the institute’s outstanding evaluation by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) that year, the IDM launched the first IDM Diabetes Lecture. The lecture is intended to take place annually from now on and to become an established scientific lecture series. Prof. Shulman is a leading expert in the fields of diabetes and metabolic physiology.

The event was dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the institute and marked the inaugural lecture of this new scientific series. Representatives of the ministry, the deans, and the Chair of the Executive Board of Tübingen University Hospital were in attendance.
