iFIT Cluster of Excellence participated at the Girl's Day - Mädchen Zukunftstag

The event gave female students the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of cancer research and gain insight into everyday life in a research environment.
🙏 We want to express a huge thank you to the labs of 👩‍🔬 Judith Feucht and 👨‍🔬 Josef Leibold and especially to Julia Bremser, Nadine Brückner and Carlotta Strümper for organizing two fantastic opportunities for girls to explore the exciting world of cancer research!
💬 During the program, participants learned how the immune system protects the body from disease and what happens when cancer develops. They discovered how healthy cells can change into cancer cells, why these cells can sometimes escape the body’s natural defenses, and how researchers are working on innovative approaches to better fight cancer.
👩‍🎓 The event was offered in two sessions and welcomed curious 7th and 8th grade students aged 12 and older. Through interactive activities and discussions with researchers, the participants gained valuable hands-on experience and inspiration for future careers in science and medicine.
🙏 We are grateful to everyone who participated and helped make Girls’Day 2026 a great success, and we look forward to inspiring the next generation of researchers.
