iFIT part of the AAAS in Washington D.C.
Under the motto "Science for Humanity", the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) held its annual conference in Washington, DC, from March 2 to 5, 2023. The DFG's North America office had registered a Research in Germany stand for the trade fair part of the conference - the only national representation alongside Research Canada - for which all 57 clusters funded under the Excellence Strategy were invited to send information materials and, if applicable, representatives. Numerous clusters accepted the invitation and, together with the two German Centres for Research and Innovation (DWIH) in North America and representatives from eleven clusters of excellence, the DFG's North America office promoted top international research in Germany to the 10,000 or so visitors to the conference, which was held directly opposite the NASA stand. As part of the group, iFIT had the opportunity to hold lively discussions about the latest achievements in the field of cancer research “made in Germany”. The elevator pitches in front of an interested audience were certainly the focus of the conference. Our communication representative Steven Pohl had the opportunity to introduce the international audience to our mission of developing innovative and individualized cancer therapies.
