The award was presented by Prof. Dr. Claudia Lengerke, Chair of the Board of the Dres. Bayer Foundation, at the award ceremony in Tübingen (July 23, 2026).
We are proud to celebrate this recognition of Jonas Heitmann's outstanding contributions to translational cancer immunotherapy. As senior physicianin the Clinical Cooperation Unit (CCU) Translational Immunology/Salihlab of the Universitätsklinikum Tübingen, Jonas Heitmann combines clinical expertise with innovative research to advance new treatment options for patients with cancer.
🔬 His award-winning project focuses on bispecific antibodies (bsAbs), a highly promising class of immunotherapies that redirect immune cells toward tumor cells and enable a targeted anti-cancer response. Jonas Heitmann and his team are currently evaluating self-developed bispecific antibodies in clinical trials, including studies in prostate and colorectal cancer.
🧬 Supported by the Württemberg Cancer Award, the project will analyze blood samples from trial participants to gain a deeper understanding of how these therapies work, which factors determine treatment response and tolerability, and how to identify the patients most likely to benefit. The findings will contribute to the development of more precise and effective immunotherapies and help bring personalized cancer treatment closer to clinical reality.
👏 We congratulate Jonas on this well-deserved honor and look forward to the next advances emerging from the CCU Translational Immunology.
