M3 Researchers Featured in EASL Podcast on Preclinical SLD Models

Mathias Heikenwälder and Suchira Gallage were featured in the latest EASL Talk Liver to Me podcast together with Rui Castro to discuss the newly published EASL position paper on preclinical models of steatotic liver disease.

The episode provides insights into the strengths and limitations of current preclinical models for MASLD, MetALD, and ALD, including animal, ex vivo, and in vitro systems. The discussion covers challenges in modelling human liver disease, recommendations for model selection, and strategies to improve the translational value of preclinical research.

The position paper represents a collaborative effort involving leading international experts from Europe, North America, and Asia and serves as a practical resource for researchers working in steatotic liver disease.
