Professor Dr. Peter Schirmacher visited The M3 Research Center to talk about one of his numerous research topics and gave a lecture about translating hepato-biliary cancer research into real-world diagnostics.

As Head of the Institute of Pathology Heidelberg, he drove implementation into clinical service, not just publication. Throughout his professional career, he became Professor of Pathology and Deputy Director of The Institute of Pathology in Cologne, and since 2004, he is Director of Pathology in Heidelberg. Between 1989 and 1991, he had the opportunity of a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship after his Promotion at the Liver Research Center in the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Since 2012, Peter Schirmacher has been a member of the Leopoldina, the German National Academy of Sciences. 

Therefore, it was an honor to welcome him to The M3 and a great opportunity for The Heads of our Research Groups to be able to speak with him personally before his lecture.
