Prof. Walz receives Research funding in the millions!

🤗 Great news for Prof. Dr. med. Juliane S. Walz, her team and also for our whole Cluster! 😲Yesterday, she received a surprise visit from Marna Davis, foundation President at Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation (FCF). ✈Marna came all the way from Greenwich (Connecticut/🇺🇸) and had an extremely generous 🎁gift in her luggage.

The FCF is funding the FusionVAC22_02 trial with 💲one million dollars! The clinical trial is supposed to evaluate the DNAJB1-PRKACA fusion neoepitope peptide vaccine as a new immunotherapy approach in the adjuvant setting for patients with fibrolamellar Carcinoma (FLC).

🔬 FLC is a rare liver cancer that primarily occurs in adolescents and young adults who have no history of liver disease. FLC is different from the more common hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in that it afflicts young people with normal liver function and no known risk factors.

🙏 A huge thank you from Tuebingen to Marna and the FCF for this more than generous funding! 💪 Juliane and her team are eager to get started and hopefully give patients more hope in the near future!
