WELT interview with Juliane Walz
📰 In a recent WELT interview, Prof. Juliane Walz, spokesperson of the iFIT - Cluster of Excellence shares how therapeutic peptide-based cancer vaccines could reshape the future of cancer immunotherapy.
🔬 Building on the pioneering work of Prof. Hans-Georg Rammensee, whose discoveries laid the foundation for peptide-based immunotherapy, Juliane and her team are developing off-the-shelf therapeutic cancer vaccines designed to induce strong and durable anti-tumor immune responses with only a few vaccinations.
💬 The interview also highlights the power of interdisciplinary collaboration: together with Prof. Helmut Salih and Prof. Hans-Georg Jung, peptide vaccination is being combined with bispecific antibodies to improve T-cell infiltration into tumors and enhance therapeutic efficacy.
🎯A major milestone is already on the horizon: a Phase II clinical trial in prostate cancer is planned to start at the end of 2026, comparing peptide vaccination, bispecific antibody therapy and their combination.
👏Thanks to Juliane Walz, for this clear and accessible overview of the current state of research on therapeutic cancer vaccination.
