Aging & FitLife: International Workshop on Healthy Aging at Hohentübingen Castle

Prof. Dr. Norbert Schmitz from the Department of Population-Based Medicine and PD Dr. Manu Sharma from the Institute for Clinical Epidemiology and Applied Biometry at the Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital in Tübingen invited participants to a two-day workshop on “Aging & FitLife” in the historic Fürstenzimmer of Hohentübingen Castle, which was very well received by both the invited speakers and the local academic faculty and staff. International experts exchanged ideas on innovative strategies for healthy aging and discussed the latest scientific advancements. Participants were particularly impressed by the castle’s unique atmosphere, which fostered lively discussions and included an exclusive museum tour. The workshop encouraged interdisciplinary exchange and facilitated valuable cross-border networking. The event featured five symposia covering topics such as “Genomics of Ageing”, “Ageing Biomarkers”, Epidemiology of Ageing”, “Cellular Cascades” and “Health Economics and Communication”, offering a rich blend of natural and social sciences. Networking and discussion were key to the workshop’s success, supporting its dual aims: learning from international experts and building on the first strategic steps toward establishing the FitLife cohort in Tübingen.
