Dr. Benjamin Ruf receives Jung Career Advancement Award

🥳 Congratulations to our member Benjamin Ruf on receiving the prestigious Jung Career Award of the Hamburg Jung Foundation for Science and Research worth 210,000 € !

👨‍🔬 🤝 👨‍⚕️ As a Clinician Scientist, Benjamin has one foot in the clinic and the other in the lab. At the Universitätsklinikum Tübingen he experiences every day how urgently new therapies are needed at the bedside. As a researcher at the M3 Research Center of the Medical Faculty of the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, he is looking for precisely these immune-based treatment therapies for difficult-to-treat cancers, such as liver cancer.

🏆 It is exactly for this research work that he has now been awarded the Jung Career Award!

🔬 His focus is on the question of how the body's own immune system can be used specifically against tumors. Tumor cells are known to develop sophisticated mechanisms to hide from the immune system. Benjamin's research aims to break through these barriers and develop new immune-based treatment strategies for difficult-to-treat cancers. His approach combines genetic analyses with a precise investigation of the interaction between the tumor and the immune system to enable tailored therapy options.

🏅 The Jung Foundation for Science and Research, based in Hamburg, is an independent foundation that honors basic and advanced research projects of particular clinical relevance with three annual awards. The Jung Prize for Medicine, the Jung Medal for Medicine in Gold and the Jung Career Award for Medical Research are among the most highly endowed medical prizes in Europe.
