Imaging the Hallmarks of Cancer - in Nature Reviews Cancer

📢 A landmark review in Nature Reviews Cancer highlights the future of cancer imaging.
📓We are proud to share the publication of "Imaging the Hallmarks of Cancer" in Nature Reviews Cancer. Twenty-six years after Hanahan and Weinberg introduced their visionary concept of the Hallmarks of Cancer in Cell, Bernd Pichler and an international team of experts - Jan Grimm, Fabian Kiessling and colleagues - provide a state-of-the-art overview of one of the most dynamic fields in cancer research.
💡According to senior author Bernd Pichler, Spokesperson of the iFIT - Cluster of Excellence of the Universitätsklinikum Tübingen the expertise of the author team spans the major disciplines of tumor imaging, enabling a truly comprehensive perspective on the field.
💬As he summarizes:
“This is the first comprehensive review to take an in-depth look at all the Hallmarks of Cancer through the lens of molecular imaging. We examine which hallmarks can already be imaged and how close these approaches are to routine clinical implementation.”
🔬 The review demonstrates how molecular imaging, advanced MRI, PET, artificial intelligence and multimodal imaging approaches are transforming cancer diagnosis, therapy selection and treatment monitoring - moving beyond anatomical imaging toward the non-invasive characterization of tumor biology.
👏Congratulations to all authors on this outstanding contribution. We are delighted to see iFIT's interdisciplinary vision reflected in this important publication.
