Prof. Dr. Jesus Gil visited the M3 Research Center

Prof. Jesus Gil (MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences / Imperial College London) visited the M3 Research Center to give a lecture about Cellular Senescence as a Therapeutic Target which is one of his many research topics.

Prof. Gil is a leading expert in the field of cellular senescence and is internationally recognized for his long-standing contributions to this area of research. He has authored several landmark papers that have shaped our understanding of senescence biology. In his earlier work, he identified several key regulators of cellular senescence and contributed significantly to our understanding of the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP). During recent years, his research has centered on targeting cellular senescence therapeutically, with the goal of developing new strategies to tackle cancer and age-related diseases. In particular, he focuses on cell death mechanisms in senescent cells and on how these cells shape the immune microenvironment.

Several PIs of the M3 exert close collaboration with Prof. Dr. Jesus Gil – both in the fields of metabolism as well as cancer.
