Welcome, Prof. Dr. Anna Junker! W2-Professorship for Radiochemistry and Development of Imaging Probes

Dr. Junker (born 1983) has led an Emmy Noether Group at the European Institute for Molecular Imaging at the University of Münster since 2018. She studied pharmacy at the University of Münster from 2004 to 2009 and then completed her doctorate in the working group of Prof. Dr. B. Wünsch in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry in Münster and in the working group of Prof. Dr. K. Itami at Nagoya University (Japan) from 2010 to 2013. This was followed by a postdoctoral position in the group of Professor Dr. C. E. Müller at the University of Bonn and a DFG-funded research fellowship in the group of Dr. K. A. Jacobson at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, MD, USA.
🔬 Prof. Junker's scientific focus is on the development of novel ligands and inhibitors for various oncologically relevant G-protein coupled receptors, ion channels and enzymes as well as further development of these ligands and inhibitors into imaging probes to study biological processes in vitro and in vivo and combine these imaging probes with targeted drug delivery to increase the effective concentration of the compound at the site of interest, thereby improving image contrast and therapeutic efficacy.
🙏 With her resume, she will be a perfect fit for our molecular and functional multiparametric imaging research area! Wishing you a great start Anna!
