About us

The Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBE) at the Faculty of Medicine houses independent departments with outstanding methodological expertise and links to clinical research. The goal of the IBE is the national and international profile building, the professional development in the field of biomedical research, as well as the coordination of research and teaching in these areas, such as medical engineering. A close interlocking of research topics from university medicine, basic research, and applied research are aimed for. In this context, the IBE aims at strategic partnerships in the region (for example with the NMI Natural and Medical Sciences Institute in Reutlingen) as well as in Germany and abroad.

Through a coordinated joint use of resources and a clear assignment of responsibilities, the challenges arising from the current and future rapid changes in research and teaching are to be successfully mastered together.
