Computational and translation Cardiology

Our group investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying cardiovascular disease and develops computational approaches to translate complex biological and clinical data into mechanistic and clinically relevant insights. A particular focus is placed on murine and human cardiac tissue, including endomyocardial biopsies, as a direct window into disease biology. By combining spatially resolved molecular profiling with advanced computational analysis, we aim to understand how molecular alterations, cellular microenvironments and metabolic remodeling shape cardiovascular phenotypes and disease trajectories. Our overarching goal is to bridge molecular cardiovascular research, computational modelling and clinical cardiology to advance mechanistic understanding, biomarker discovery and precision cardiovascular medicine.

Research Focus

  • Spatial and multimodal profiling
    Integration of complementary technologies including Mass Spectrometry Imaging, Raman spectroscopy, multiplexed immunofluorescence imaging, transcriptomics and histopathology.

  • Computational cardiology
    Development and application of machine learning, deep learning and multimodal data integration approaches for complex molecular and clinical datasets.

  • Cardiac metabolism and molecular remodeling
    Characterization of metabolic, mitochondrial and cellular adaptations associated with cardiovascular disease.

  • Translational data science and precision cardiology
    Identification of molecular signatures, biomarkers and computational models with potential relevance for diagnosis, risk stratification and treatment response.

Team

Our interdisciplinary team combines expertise in clinical cardiology, cardiovascular molecular research, computational biology, data science and biomedical imaging. We work at the interface between patient-oriented research, experimental tissue characterization and computational methodology.
