Tolerance. Respect. Together – 120 nations. In strong teams.

A prejudice-free workplace is critical for our 11,000 employees from over 120 countries.  Regardless of your background, gender, or sexual orientation, we are dedicated to making sure you can practice, conduct research, and impart knowledge in an accepting atmosphere. We are in a continuous state of learning, inquiring, testing, and educating ourselves. Additionally, since our patients are from such diverse backgrounds, transparency is crucial. Prof. Jens Maschmann, Chief Medical Director of University Hospital, states, "We can develop our potential and give our patients the care they need only in a respectful and appreciative working environment."

We are international, with employees from Italy, the Philippines and Turkey making up the largest international groups among our employees. Other nations are Croatia, Greece, Serbia and India. A different picture emerges in science, where the majority of international researchers come from India, China, Italy and Iran. The proportion of international students at our faculty is 14%, which puts us well above the national average in terms of internationals in the Human Medicine and Health Sciences subject group.

The Faculty of Medicine is dedicated to the following core values as well: "As a faculty embedded in an international research environment, we thrive on the constant exchange of different perspectives." These values include openness, tolerance, and liberal democratic basic rights. According to Prof. Bernd Pichler, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, "We have hundreds of partnerships with partners worldwide and nearly 30 institutionalized research agreements."

Respectful and appreciative cooperation can only succeed together. Let us all contribute to this!
