We have the pleasure to welcome Dr. Jan Tchorz from Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research in Basel, Switzerland.
He will give a talk on
“Liver homeostasis, regeneration and cancer: a balancing act”
Hepatocytes alongside the porto-central blood flow line up like workers on an assembly line, fulfilling complementary tasks that enable hepatic metabolism. Establishing this metabolic zonation, as well as refueling the hepatocyte pool during homeostasis and regeneration, is critical to maintain liver function. However, the pathways orchestrating these vital processes are also major oncogenic drivers in liver cancer. Dr.Tchorz combines lineage tracing, mouse genetics and spatial transcriptomics techniques to dissect regulatory mechanisms balancing liver metabolism and repair, while preventing liver cancer.
