In 2018, the University of Tübingen was able to position itself very successfully with three funded clusters within the Excellence Strategy in Germany. As a funding program of the federal and state governments in cooperation with the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the German Council of Science and Humanities (WR), the program supports German universities in expanding competitive international top-level research. As Germany's only cluster of excellence in the field of cancer research, the iFIT Cluster occupies a special position. With the help of financial support from the federal government and the state of Baden-Württemberg, the cluster hopes to develop new insights and innovative treatment methods in cancer therapy by closely integrating the three research fields of tumor therapy, immunotherapy and molecular imaging.
