Best Season Paper Award

Our colleague Georgios Vavouras Syrigos, member of the group of Prof. Michael Schindler, recently received the award for the best paper of the season fall from the Young Society of Virology (jGfV) Germany. He received the price  for his latest publication “Abemaciclib restricts HCMV replication by suppressing pUL97-mediated phosphorylation of SAMHD1” in the scientific journal Antiviral Research. In his paper Georgios Vavouras Syrigos investigated whether so-called CDK inhibitors block the replication of the Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV). His results show, that one of the inhibitors, called Abemaciclib, very efficiently prevents the spread of HCMV. Click here for more detailed results of his studies.
