New iFIT video about cancer and COVID-19
In the case of infection with COVID-19, there is often talk of an immune response. In this context, we usually talk about antibodies. However, in addition to antibodies, other elements play a key role in our immune system, such as T cells. But what happens if there is no immune response? In this VIDEO, which was produced together with the video production company Biolution, cancer researcher Apl. Prof. Dr. Juliane Walz from the iFIT Cluster of Excellence explains why cancer patients in particular have an increased risk of developing a severe course of COVID-19. Their findings are instrumental in the development of a vaccine designed to induce targeted T-cell responses in cancer patients against the coronavirus. As part of the iFIT Cluster of Excellence, Apl. Prof. Dr. Juliane Walz is conducting research on a vaccine that has already reached the second clinical phase. Click here for the vaccine study.
