Josef Leibold receives Württembergischen Cancer Award 2024

Great news for our Cluster and especially for Josef Leibold! The Württemberg Cancer Prize 2024 for the best project goes to Josef Leibold with 30,000 euros for his project "Tailoring cellular therapies to molecular subtype specific secretory programs in gastric cancer".

Gastric carcinoma is an aggressive type of cancer and new treatment concepts are urgently needed. Gastric cancer cells secrete factors that allow them to grow invasively. The aim of the project is to use these factors to improve the effectiveness of cellular immunotherapies for gastric cancer. This involves genetically modifying the body's own immune cells so that they can recognize the secreted factors of the tumour cells, which increases the activity of the immune cells.
