The use of medications accompanies (almost) every individual with an acute or chronic illness and is a crucial part of medical treatment. Medication therapy and the associated medication process are complex procedures involving various healthcare professionals. While nurses may not prescribe medications, they play a significant role in the medication process and medication management in both acute and long-term inpatient and outpatient care settings. Projects within the Department of Nursing Science focus on the contribution of nurses in this process and raises awareness about medication-related issues to promote medication therapy safety and, consequently, patient safety.
