Establishment and Evaluation of an Advanced Interprofessional Master's Program in Medication Safety

The Department of Nursing Science at the University of Tübingen is part of a collaborative project aimed at establishing an advanced interprofessional master's program to enhance and deepen competencies in the field of Medication Safety. This program is designed not only for physicians and pharmacists, but also explicitly for nursing professionals, as well as individuals from the fields of medical informatics, public health, and quality and risk management.

Graduates of this program are expected to acquire the competencies necessary to navigate medication safety-related structures and act purposefully to improve medication safety. In doing so, they contribute both to increasing awareness about risks in medication therapy among relevant stakeholders as well as systematically minimizing these risks in patient care.

This collaborative project builds upon an existing network from its predecessor project, SINA. It includes the recruitment of instructors from various disciplines, preparation and execution of the accreditation process, integration into the curriculum, and the evaluation of the first two years of the program using qualitative and quantitative methods.
