About us

As Institute for Transfusion Medicine, we are particularly interested in basic research with the focus on the pathophysiology and clinical manifestations of several bleeding disorders. Our final goal is to provide further insights on these diseases in order to improve the outcome as well as the life quality of the patients.

The research team, which consists of scientists, physicians, lab technicians and medical students, is internationally networked and is equipped with up-to-date instruments that enable the diagnostic of even rare bleeding disorders in interdisciplinary cooperation with different specialist departments.

Information for doctors

Information for the transfusing physician

The safety of the use of blood and blood products is a high priority in medicine. Transfusion is therefore precisely regulated by numerous laws and regulations.

Quality assurance in the use of blood products is also of great importance in the work of the ZKT. A round-the-clock transfusion medicine consultation service is available to the hospitals supplied.
