Psychotherapy outpatient clinic for people with psychotic illnesses

MVZ of the University Hospital of Tübingen,
Psychotherapy branch practice
of the University Hospital of Tübingen

Our psychotherapy practice offers diagnostics and outpatient psychotherapy for people with psychotic disorders. The outpatient psychotherapy services include individual and group therapies. Therapy goals can be, for example, regaining a zest for life, dealing with illness-related complaints or strategies to prevent the recurrence of symptoms.

The branch practice of the MVZ cooperates closely with the Psychotherapy Research Group (Head: Prof. S. Klingberg) at the University Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy.

Procedure from first contact to therapy

If you are interested in an initial consultation, you can call the office during office hours or send us an e-mail. If your concerns match our services, we will arrange an initial consultation. If a diagnosis has already been made, please let us know when you register.

As part of a 50-minute psychotherapeutic consultation, we will check what complaints you have, whether you need psychotherapeutic treatment and whether our services are suitable for you. In the process of getting to know each other, we work together to see whether the collaboration is also a good fit on a personal level. If both are the case, we plan the next steps together. If we don't come together, the diagnosis doesn't match our services or psychotherapy isn't the right thing for you, you can seek advice from other contact points.

In up to 6 further individual consultations (psychotherapeutic consultation and trial sessions) as well as in up to eight appointments of a basic care group, the present diagnosis and the therapy goals are clarified. In a cooperative decision-making process, we will clarify which offer is most suitable. We can then consider together whether group therapy, individual therapy or a combination treatment is appropriate for you. You will also receive information about your clinical picture and initial strategies for dealing with symptoms.

Subsequent therapy is possible in a group setting, in an individual setting or as a combination treatment. If group participation is not possible or not desired, purely individual therapy is also possible. The duration of therapy depends on the severity and progress of the treatment. Short-term therapy comprises up to 24 sessions, long-term therapy up to 80 sessions. A session usually lasts 50 minutes.

Costs

Statutory health insurance

The costs of treatment are covered by all statutory health insurance companies. You do not need a referral from your family doctor. The psychotherapeutic consultation hours and the basic care group are covered by the health insurance without an application. For short-term or long-term therapies, an application is required, which we will submit together if necessary.

Private health insurance and benefits

Please find out in advance from your insurance company or the allowance whether and to what extent the costs of psychotherapy/behavioral therapy will be covered. Also find out how to apply for psychotherapy and request the necessary forms. In our experience, an initial consultation has always been covered by benefits and insurance.
