The work of the department focuses on how chemical substances, especially environmental substances, are involved in the development of cancer and other toxic effects. The aim is to improve the assessment of the risk to humans from such substances. In addition to its research tasks, the department and its staff are actively involved in the education of students of medicine, chemistry and biochemistry.
