Saving teeth - every minute counts

Up to the age of 16, about every second child suffers an accident involving teeth. The front teeth are most frequently affected. Every accident involving teeth should be examined by a dentist, because early dental diagnosis and treatment can save teeth!

Patient care after dental accidents includes the treatment of acute emergencies as well as therapy planning for late trauma consequences and their treatment.

Treatment under intubation anaesthesia ITN

Dr. Daniel Klein and Dr. Sandra Tobiska perform a treatment

During surgery: Assistant Professor Dr. Daniel Klein

together with Assistant Professor Dr. Sandra Tobiska

If dental treatment cannot be carried out under normal circumstances due to the age of the patients or due to extensive destruction of the teeth, dental treatment under intubation anaesthesia (ITN) is often the last option to help the affected patients. In many cases, children and patients with serious pre-existing conditions are the recipients of these treatments.

The Polyclinic for Dental Preservation offers rehabilitations under intubation anaesthesia in specially equipped rooms. The dental procedures are performed by senior physicians and dental staff of the Polyclinic for Dental Preservation.

An experienced team from the University Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine looks after patients during and after treatment.

Prevent dental accidents - Sports mouthguards

Preventive measures are the best way to avoid dental accidents. Dental accidents are particularly common in so-called high-risk sports (e.g. hockey, inline skating, cycling, ball sports, horse back riding, martial arts or swimming in the pool, etc.).

Ask us about sports protective splints. These are made individually most commonly from elastic polymers after taking an impression of your teeth. The investment in this individual protective splint, which is slightly more expensive than ready-made splints, pays off. According to comparative statistics, wearing such a splint reduces the risk of tooth injury by a factor of 60. The loss of a single incisor can result in life-long follow-up costs and dental treatments.
