Children have a right to participate in decisions that they concern. Which phases and areas of co-determination are particularly relevant within child and adolescent psychiatry has rarely been empirically investigated. Thus, the aim of the present study is to take a differentiated look at the desire and experience of participation for different dimensions of inpatient treatment in child and adolescent psychiatry.

Methodology
Methodology
A prospective multicentre questionnaire survey was conducted. The survey instrument comprised 100 questions, summarized in 14 scales, on the desire and experience of participation within different phases (information, deliberation, decision), areas (treatment, clinical routine, personal freedom) and participation in a broader sense (respect, trust). The data were evaluated descriptively and inferentially.
