Kites

Interventional, randomised, double-blind, placebocontrolled, active reference (fluoxetine), fixed-dose study of vortioxetine in paediatric patients aged 7 to 17 years, with major depressive disorder (MDD).

The Kites study was an international clinical research study conducted by the Lundbeck company in which the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy at the University Hospital of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Tübingen also participated.

Methodology

This study investigated the safety and efficacy of the investigational drug vortioxetine compared to placebo and fluoxetine. Children and adolescents aged between 7 and 17 years with a diagnosis of major depression were eligible to participate. The study comprised a 12-week treatment phase, which included pharmacotherapy and a short psychotherapeutic intervention (so-called 'short psychosocial intervention').
