Psychiatric outpatient clinic PIA

A doctor's referral is not absolutely necessary for treatment in the psychiatric outpatient clinic. The insurance card or the health insurance certificate is sufficient. The treatment is paid by the health insurance. At the beginning of the treatment, during the first contact, it is clarified whether the specific treatment in the PIA is necessary or whether the treatment can or should take place elsewhere, e.g. in the practice of the established neurologist.

Treatment focus

We offer outpatient treatment for the following disorders.

  • Schizophrenic psychoses
  • Depressive illnesses
  • Personality and behavioural disorders
  • Psychological problems in old age

  • Individual counselling about therapeutic possibilities and, if desired, mediation of an appropriate therapy.

Transcultural psychiatry

Mental illnesses are common and often cause years of suffering. They are so widespread that almost every second person suffers from mental illness at some point in their lives. These illnesses can usually be treated well with psychotherapy and medication on an outpatient basis, but sometimes hospitalisation is necessary. Unfortunately, foreign citizens know little about mental illnesses and their treatment options.

Language problems often make access to therapy facilities difficult. The diagnosis and the success of the therapy also depend on the understanding of the language. The Institute Outpatient Clinic of the University Hospital for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (PIA) offers possibilities for diagnosis and therapy by native-speaking therapists. In addition, we provide information about the diseases and their treatment.

Please bring a doctor's referral or your insurance card with you to treatment at the psychiatric outpatient clinic. The health insurance covers the costs
