In our autism consultation for adults, we offer a detailed diagnosis if Asperger's syndrome or high-functioning autism is suspected. In addition to a thorough anamnesis and autism-specific clinical interviews, the diagnosis includes the assessment of concomitant diseases as well as examinations with neuropsychological tests. In order to confirm the diagnosis, information is also required from close relatives who can assess the first 10 years of life. Our consultation hours take place by appointment.
Autism consultation for adults
Scientific studies
The consultation is used for diagnosis and counselling. In addition, there is also the possibility of participating in scientific studies on the subject of autism spectrum disorders in adulthood. Please contact us if you are interested. Currently, studies on emotional cognition are taking place. A therapy study is expected to start in the fall of 2020. Participation is possible after the diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder has been made.

Important information on registration at the autism outpatient clinic
Due to the very high demand, unreasonable (multi-year) waiting times for diagnostic appointments have arisen. We have therefore revised our registration procedure.
From now on, admission to the waiting list will be granted if the following documents are sent to us directly by an outpatient specialist practice (registered specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy or registered psychological psychotherapist):
- Initial assessment checklist (completed by the referring colleague)
- Referral to the University Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy Tübingen
Both documents must be sent to us directly by the referring specialist practice by post or fax .
We have informed the specialist practices in our clinic's service area about the new procedure and provided them with the required documents. Alternatively, the referring colleagues will receive the checklist from us by e-mail on request.
The aim of this change is to be able to offer people with a well-founded suspicion of autism spectrum disorders an appointment for a detailed diagnosis as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding!
