Depression consultation

As a rule, the treatment of depression consists of a combination of psychotherapy and somatic procedures (medication and others).

If you are affected by depression, you can present yourself at our depression consultation. The depression consultation is primarily an offer for patients who are interested in an inpatient stay at the University Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Tübingen. Other concerns can also be clarified as required.

We offer various psychotherapeutic procedures on the wards:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Behavioral Activation (BA)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Depth psychology-based therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP)
  • In certain cases, we also carry out electroconvulsive therapy, stimulation procedures (e.g. transcranial magnetic stimulation, rTMS), ketamine treatments, wakefulness therapy and light therapy.

The indication for these procedures is provided by the respective wards after admission.

Services of the depression consultation

  • Clarification of indications for inpatient treatment of depressive symptoms
  • Information on special psychotherapy programs (CBT, BA, ACT, CBASP) and clarification of indications (Is my participation in one of these programs useful for dealing with my problems?)

Please discuss your concerns for the depression consultation with your treating psychiatrist before making an appointment.
