Ward 24 - Special ward for the treatment of depressive disorders

Ward 24 is a special ward with a therapy concept expressly developed for the treatment of depressive illnesses. Depressive illnesses lead to impaired thinking, feelings and the ability to act. Since depressions have many different causes and, depending on the person, can be more biological, psychological or caused by special life circumstances, the therapeutic offer is adapted to the causes, the symptomatology, the severity of the illness and the changes in the course of the therapy process.

The aim of the treatment is to regain a zest for life with increasing distance from depressive thoughts, to rediscover skills and abilities that were thought to be lost, to be able to take up tasks in work and everyday life and to resume neglected social contacts.

Combined inpatient-ambulatory treatment concept

The duration of the full inpatient treatment (on average six to eight weeks) can be shortened by partial inpatient further treatment: this means that you can use the therapeutic offers of the ward during the day, but spend the evening and the night at home again. After completion of the inpatient treatment phase, further outpatient treatment can be provided by your inpatient therapist for a period of up to eight weeks.

We offer you support in planning further (outpatient) treatment after discharge. Our social service offers advice and support with social and professional problems in connection with the illness.

Part of our concept are stress tests in the home environment at weekends. You should take this into account when planning treatment.

Therapy offer

We offer you a preliminary outpatient consultation in which you or your relatives can clarify open questions. You will have the opportunity to clarify questions relating to the treatment or individual therapy elements of the ward with a doctor from the ward.
The treatment plan consists of a combination of individualised elements (one-to-one talks, individual applications, special therapies) and group therapy activities:

  • Behavioural group therapy
  • Psychoeducational training
  • Social competence training
  • Cognitive behavioural therapy
  • Role plays
  • Group patient forum
  • Individual psychotherapy
  • Depth psychological psychotherapy
  • Activating care with exercise fields in the social area
  • Pharmacotherapy
  • Wake therapy (sleep deprivation treatment)
